How does Reflexology Work?

Reflexology is a natural healing art, based on the principle that the feet and hands have reflexes which correspond to every part of the body. In general there is common sense that the benefits of reflexology are related to the reduction of stress.

At various times in the history of the human being reflexology has been rediscovered and reinstated as a health practice in many different cultures around the world. Archeological evidence relates ancient reflexology systems to various historical time-spans, including: China (2704 BCE), Egypt (2330 BCE), and Japan (690 CE).

There are many theories which explain how reflexology works. Some theories are related to the nervous system and the reflexive responses, others theories relate reflexology to the meridians. Far most reflexology approaches describe the physical act of applying pressure to the feet and hands - through the use of specific thumb, finger and hand techniques.

MY OPINION ABOUT REFLEXOLOGY/MASSAGE THERAPY

"Often times people are stressed in our culture. Stress-related disorders make up between 80-and-90 percent of the ailments that bring people to family practice physicians. What they require is someone to listen, someone to touch them, someone to care. That does not exist in modern medicine.

One of the complaints heard frequently is that physicians don't touch their patients any more. Touch just isn't there. Years ago massage was a big part of nursing. There was so much care, so much touch, so much goodness conveyed through massage. Now nurses for the most part are as busy as physicians. They're writing charts, dealing with insurance notes, they're doing procedures and often there is no room for massage any more.

I believe reflexology or massage is absolutely key in the
healing process not only in the hospital environment but because it relieves stress, it is obviously foundational in the healing process any time and anywhere."

Massage or Reflexology is becoming increasingly popular. The more studies that are completed with positive results, the more widely accepted it becomes, the more easily accessible it is, and the more affordable it will be.

Many people are taking advantage of reflexology/massage on a regular basis, and these people have less stress and anxiety, a better sense of well-being, and better general health.

If you haven’t tried reflexology/massage therapy there’s no time like the present to get started on a healthier, happier life. Schedule an appointment today to start experiencing the many benefits that massage has to offer.

INTRODUCTION

Massage is an Art form that has been around for centuries. Massage was used in the times of old to heal people physically and spiritually. Body work has various modalities of healing people at so many different levels. The human body has the natural ability to heal itself. Through the power of touch the body receives the tools it needs for healing advantage.

With the benefits like increased blood circulation, decreased muscle tension, and deep relaxation, the body has room to systematically begin relieving overall tension. Massage is truly a gift that should be taken advantage of and enjoyed to its fullest.

Being a Massage/Reflexology Therapist has dramatically change my life. I have been a massage/reflexology therapist for over two years and have discovered the secret to well-being. The secret includes being hydrated, exercising, receiving massage and simply loving your body. You have to consistently take care of your body if you want your body to take care of you. Your body is your temple so take care of it.
